Certified Child Life Specialists (CCLSs) have demonstrated entry-level mastery of child life competencies. CCLSs are educated & clinically trained in the developmental impact of illness & injury. CCLSs help children & families cope with the stress and uncertainty of illness, injury, trauma, disability, loss and bereavement through developmentally- and psychologically-appropriate interventions including therapeutic play, preparation for procedures, and education to reduce fear, anxiety, and pain.
