Geriatric Pharmacy Practice specializes in applying the knowledge of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of medications in older adults to optimize therapeutic outcomes. The BPS Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (BCGP) program is a credential for pharmacists who have met the eligibility criteria and who in their unique practice provides pharmaceutical care to the elderly, including wellness, treatment, monitoring and patient safety services.

Graduation from a pharmacy program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or a program outside the U.S. that qualifies the individual to practice in the jurisdiction.

A current, active license to practice pharmacy in the U.S. or another jurisdiction.

At least four years of practice experience post-pharmacist licensure with at least 50% of time spent in geriatric pharmacy activities as defined by the Geriatric Pharmacy Content Outline, or PGY-1 residency plus at least two years of practice experience post-pharmacist licensure with at least 50% of time spent in geriatric pharmacy activities as defined in the BPS Geriatric Pharmacy Content Outline, or a specialty PGY-2 residency in geriatric pharmacy.
