The distinctive feature of statistics as a scientific and educational field is that it is closely related with the collection and analysis of state of affairs data, i.e. official state statistics, which is based on verified historical data and scientifically grounded methods of their collection and analysis. These methods are demanded, used and developed also in business, management, commerce and other spheres. Statistics is a branch of knowledge that sets out fundamental and applied methods for the collection, measurement and analysis of mass quantitative or qualitative statistical data.
