Play Therapy: Series

Earners of this designation have completed intensive play therapy training under a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. They have the core skills required to use the therapeutic power of play with clients using play-based interventions. Earners have completed six workshops covering the theoretical models of play therapy; expressive arts; sandtray and narrative techniques; systematic interventions; trauma and healing; and games and activities.

Earning Criteria

Possess an active, unconditional state mental health license or currently employed (and/or pursuing education) in a behavioral health or school counseling field
Complete all six workshops of play therapy training through VCU Continuing and Professional Education (APT Approved Provider 15-397).
Pass a two-part assessment per workshop including a multiple-choice test and scored rubric demonstrating mastery of workshop objectives via small and large group activities and discussion.
