Virtual Reality Design
Issued by
Unity College
Learners will define a marketing persona for a VR experience they intend to design, then craft a storyboard for their VR experience with that persona in mind. The persona and storyboard together comprise a standard design process, of defining a target audience for a product and then drafting early ideations of that product, using established protocols of design. Successful learners have shown that they know and can apply foundational principles of VR design.

Persona and Planned VR Experience. Students must include a fictional photograph, drawing, or figure representing a person. This description must include a name, details about this person that others working on your planned VR experience would need. Students demonstrate that they can create a persona to effectively define a target user and create a clearly defined plan for a storyboard, including details on sound and movement.
-
Storyboard. Using a VR wireframe template and using a drawing technology of choice, sketch the six narrative plot points: Introduction, Set the Scene, Dilemma, Crisis, Change, and Resolution. Students demonstrate that they can address all the plot points, and together provide a sketch of the narrative arc of the planned VR experience, making use of layout, providing visual indicators of what is where, and how the orientation of these entities in space comprises a meaningful experience.
