Earning Criteria
-
Individual Learning: Learners will review six, four-hour asynchronous online modules that include tools and case studies. Modules serve to introduce the role of the caregiver and how to identify this person, theories around caregiving, tools to assess the ability of a caregiver, how to engage and improve communication with a caregiver, the concept of shared decision-making, and policy issues for caregivers.
-
Cohort Learning: After each asynchronous module, the learner will participate in six synchronous 90-minute online sessions. These synchronous sessions include lecture and participation, with a focus on how to implement the skills and tools presented in the online modules. These sessions allow the learner to delve deeper into content and, because they are part of a multi-disciplinary cohort, to observe how family caregiving practices are implemented by social workers, clinicians, and clergy.
-
The modules culminate with how to develop a co-created plan of care. In addition, course leaders will debrief and perform a learner evaluation which will be submitted to the Nurse Scholars Academy.
