Distinguished Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Educator

The Distinguished Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Educator badge recognizes engagement of faculty, staff, and graduate students in personal and professional DEI-focused learning by encouraging participation with ongoing education and training. Examples may include Unity in Diversity Days and DEI courses through Academic Impressions. Focus will be on mastering of DEI vocabulary and skills and developing awareness related to inclusive excellence, institutional access, and diversity leadership.

Earning Criteria

Earners must complete a minimum of 25 hours of personal and/or professional education and training, where issues or learning outcomes focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion topics. Earners are able to articulate a basic understanding of and commitment to DEI and apply it into their work.

Earners demonstrate ability to utilize resources and skills to help create visible advocacy for diversity, equity, and inclusion in various Merrimack spaces. Earners help foster an inclusive workplace and campus through shared learning with colleagues and community.

Earners complete a diversity self-assessment and reflect on learning achievements, as well as gaps. Earners document knowledge and mastery of skills as it relates to themes of inclusive excellence, institutional access, and diversity leadership.
