Music Theory Through Composition and Performance II
In the Spring semester, show the ability to understand & articulate musical theory by writing & performing historically important musical forms. Student will learn about the use of instruments, their ranges, & how to arrange pre-existing music for various ensembles, culminating in preparing of a set of parts & score for performance. Forms covered include: Baroque Canon Fugue Ritornello Sonata(simple A B) Concerto Grosso; Classical: Rondo Sonata Opera. Romantic: Character piece ABA, A,B,C,A.

Students learn about the following Forms: Baroque Period – Canon, Fugue, Ritornello, Sonata (simple AB), Concerto Grosso Classical Period—Rondo, Sonata, Opera (number opera, ensemble pieces, etc.) Romantic Period—Character piece, ABA, ABCA

Standards
College/graduate age students can audition for the Independent Artist Mastery Program which helps cultivate and enhance skills with a performance focus. They study privately with renowned professors and attend a variety of relevant classes on musical topics. Students also can play in masterclasses and concerts during the year and at IIMF in Europe.
