The UWSU Leadership Development Programme (LDP) is an ILM Recognised programme of learning, created and delivered by the University of Westminster Students’ Union (UWSU) for individuals in leadership roles. The programme aims to develop the required knowledge and skills to be an effective leader through the practical implementation of core leadership skills and practice obtained through ten key modules of learning that learners reflect upon and implement into their leadership style and practice.

Earning Criteria

Increased effectiveness of leadership: The ten modules are focused on key elements of effective leadership and therefore attendees will be able to focus on these and identify key improvement points to develop the effectiveness of their leadership style and capability.

A consistent approach to leadership: Through outlining organisational practices, procedures and expectations leadership consistency within the organisation will be improved and attendees will gain a clear understanding of key organisational leaderships tasks and processes.

Leadership confidence in the organisation: Through peer to peer support and line management reflective conversations after each module leaders will gain a clear understanding of strengths and weaknesses and therefore grow confidence in their leadership development.

Increased employability: Through completing the programme and achieving the recognised qualification the employability of the leader will be increased. It is expected that the programme will highlight further continued professional development needs that will boost employability.

Increased staff satisfaction and engagement: As a clear link exists between good leadership and management and staff satisfaction and engagement it is anticipated that the programme will have a positive impact on this area based upon the achievement of the previous learning objectives.
