Earning Criteria
-
Demonstrate an understanding of key management skills and how these relate to personal areas for development.
-
This learning outcome is a particular focus for the first session of the programme, and then is developed throughout each session as learners build on their understanding to develop and enhance their skills, then reflect on these in the context of their own professional development and the goals they set for themselves in the first session.
-
This outcome maps specifically to the ILM footprint of Management, and as Coaching is a key management skill covered in this programme, it also maps to the ILM footprint of Coaching.
-
Describe and explain the key skills and behaviours of a manager. This learning outcome is a particular focus for the first session of the programme where learners identify key skills and behaviours. As the programme progresses, they then begin to explore these skills and behaviours in depth and understand how to apply these in their role, building on and embedding their learning througout the programme. This outcome maps specifically to the ILM footprint of Management.
-
Reflect on personal individual skills and behaviours, identifying areas where improvement would enable more effective management of others. This learning outcome is embedded throughout the whole programme via both discussion and activities in the sessions but mainly through the completion of reflective journals after each session, where learners reflect on the key takeaways from the session and what they will do differently. This outcome maps specifically to the ILM footprint of Management.
-
Evaluate personal progress and use this information to identify and plan future development.
-
This learning outcome is a focus of the final reflective journal entry, where learners look back on their individual progress against the goals they set at the start of the programme, and reflect on their achievement. They are also asked to think about what their next developmental steps are, thus providing a focus for continous improvement in their management journey. This outcome maps specifically to the ILM footprint of Management.
Standards
The programme falls within the ILM Footprint of Leadership, Management, Coaching, Mentoring and Enterprise. It is well structured with appropriate governance and management to deliver consistently high-quality learning outcomes and objectives. Learners are fully supported and receive recognition for their achievement.
