Creative Works: Design & Development

The Creative Works Microcredential is awarded to a student who undertakes the design and development of a substantial creative work (outside of the curriculum) culminating in a finished product. These include (but are not limited to): musical works, video production, art works/exhibitions, literary works, original performances (comedy, magic, dramatic), choreographic works, digital design/ development.

Earning Criteria

Application: The candidate must meet with the delegated Creative mentor to discuss the proposed project ideas, objectives and commitment. The candidate must submit a formal application.

Project Design: The candidate will work with the mentor to determine the nature, scope and timeline for the project.

Research: The candidate will complete research to better understand the area of creative development and to explore similar projects/products. This research can be recorded as part of a development folio.

Product: The candidate will develop, refine and deliver the creative project. A creative mentor will provide regular feedback and input to support the progress of the work.

The finished works will be verified as completed by the Creative mentor & member of a relevant faculty who will review the folio and product, with reference to the nature and scope agreed to in the project design.

Presentation: The student will present work (oral and /or folio submission to provide context, insight or amplification of the creative works. The following questions may be explored: How did you develop your thinking and creative process to develop the work? How is the works relevant in the creative genre or cultural context? How does your works contribute to the body of knowledge in this field?
