Developed within the Department of Architecture and FIU Institute of Environment, this badge recognizes fundamental skills that are required to successfully 3D print a design project. Learners have gained knowledge in basic printer anatomy, types of printing materials, and additive manufacturing processes and techniques. Learners have applied this knowledge to analyze 3D models for printing viability and to inform their selection of appropriate slicer software settings for 3D printing.

Earning Criteria

  • Successful completion of related module quizzes addressing the learner's understanding on various topics within Applied 3D Printing.
  • Successful completion of a proper 3D printing model, using specific techniques that address the learner's understanding of various topics within 3D Printing.
  • Successful completion of a reflection presentation where learners demonstrate the techniques and process used to print their 3D models and how the competencies gained can be utilized to further personal, professional and/or academic goals.
