Winter Service Operations: Snow Blowers (6159-33)

This qualification is aimed at learners who are working for Highways England, National Assembly for Wales and local authorities, who are responsible for the direct supervision and operating of winter service snow blowers. Successful candidates will be eligible to obtain a NEREO operative qualification registration card, endorsed with the appropriate category, valid for a five-year period.

In relation to the chosen snow blower unit chosen they will know how to prepare and operate a snow-blower for use

Pre-start checks are carried out on prime mover ; Pre-start checks are carried out on rotary cutters and clearing devices ; Machine operational checks are carried out ; Prepare machine for snow clearing ; Snow blower is driven / operated in a safe and proper manner; Replacement of shear pins ; Snow-blower is parked and shut-down in the correct manner ; Underpinning knowledge of the dedicated snow-blowing equipment.

This person will also have skills and knowledge in relation to Preparing and Operating Highways England / National Assembly for Wales dedicated Snow-Blowers or Operating a dedicated snow blower or Operating Demountable Snow Blower.

All credentials issued will only be valid for 5 years from the date of successful completion of a full qualification. Complete re-assessment will have to be undertaken to renew the certificate and registration card. Units may be renewed at any time and a new certificate/credential will be issued with a 5 year expiry date.
