This person has successfully demonstrated all of the knowledge and practical competencies required to achieve the Stage 3 Certificate in English. They have developed skills in reading, speaking, listening and writing in English.

They can recognise, understand and develop vocabulary associated with different types of text at varying levels of complexity. Can use reference material to find alternative words and the meaning of unfamiliar ones. They can use organisational systems to locate and obtain information. Understand a range of texts, identify purpose, key points and points of view within them. They can present information to others, speak clearly and confidently and can obtain information by speaking and listening.

They can make relevant contributions to discussions on complex topics and adapt them to suit audience, context, purpose and situations. They are able to produce text that uses grammatically correct, complex and punctuated sentences. They can proof-read and revise their own writing for accuracy and to support meaning. They can write to communicate information and ideas clearly using the appropriate format and style for the intended audience.
