This person has successfully demonstrated all of the knowledge and practical competencies required to achieve the Stage 2 Certificate in English. They have developed skills in reading, speaking, listening and writing in English.

They can speak clearly and present information and ideas in a logical sequence and listen and respond to spoken English. They can make relevant contributions to discussions and respond to others. They are able to produce text that uses grammatically correct, clear and punctuated sentences. They can spell key words and use different strategies to check spelling in their own writing. They can write to communicate clearly using the appropriate format and style for the intended audience.

They can recognise, understand and develop vocabulary associated with different topics. Can use strategies to elicit meaning and develop knowledge in a variety of contexts. Understand and use organisational features to locate information and identify the main points and ideas in a text. Read and understand straightforward continuous texts on familiar topics and obtain information from everyday sources. They can select texts to suit their own purposes and complete tasks using instructional text.
