This person has successfully demonstrated all of the knowledge and practical competencies required to achieve the Skills Proficiency Certificate in Basic Plumbing.

They can maintain safe working conditions, adopt safe procedures for themselves and others, select and maintain tools in a correct and safe manner. They can safely erect and dismantle simple scaffolding platforms, inspect for faults, set up and safely use steps and ladders in general use. They can set up safety barriers around plumbing hazards to protect working personnel and members of the public. They can select and use the correct protective clothing and safety equipment for specific tasks.

They can also select, use and store basic hand tools and pipe bending equipment; set out pipe runs and install copper and sanitary pipework; install storage tanks/cisterns and sanitary fittings; terminate pipework and maintain portable heating equipment in domestic settings.
