This person has successfully demonstrated all of the knowledge and practical competencies required to achieve the Skills Proficiency Certificate in Basic IT for Office Applications.

They can access files on a network, modify configuration and display options, set up application software to save, make backup copies of files and respond to error messages and screen prompts. They can plan, create and use the basic functions within word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software. They can create layouts for different documents, create, edit, check and print relevant information. They can check accuracy of data, use simple filters and use correct terminology.

They can use the Internet to locate, download and organise information, use email software to create, attach and send emails and create email groups. They understand the importance of email and internet security and features and also the importance of protecting data. They have a clear understanding of health and safety hazards and prevention and know the dangers associated with the use of electrical equipment.
