This person has successfully demonstrated all of the knowledge and practical competencies required to achieve the Skills Proficiency Certificate in Basic Food and Beverage Service.

They can carry out safe working practices to prevent hazards and ensure safety to personnel and members of the public. They can maintain clean working areas and equipment and apply good housekeeping practices. They can apply and follow establishment emergency and security procedures and carry out basic first aid if necessary.

They can explain simple cookery terms, select correct equipment for food and beverage service. Carry out all service preparation with appropriate speed and quality as well as serving customers in the appropriate style. They can follow safe storage procedures and know the responsibilities of food handlers. They can employ methods of maintaining effective communication and can work as part of a team. They have knowledge of special diets and cultural needs relating to food and beverage service.
