The programme is aimed at Attraction Attendants and is designed to provide the learner with the knowledge and skills sets required to operate safely and to perform the duties required of them in the amusement industry. Covering all aspects of safety, regulations (ISO 17842, BS EN 13814 and HSG 175) and good practice in operations, combined with a three-stage practical training consisting of Instructed, observed and unassisted. The learner has completed a course consisting of classroom training and theory assessment in which the operational, legal, regulatory, health and safety and compliance aspects of the Attraction Attendant role are covered. All Attraction Attendant training is attraction specific based on regulatory standards, good practice, and the attraction specific operations manuals.
The learner has completed a formative assessment in the form of short answer questions, in which they have demonstrated sufficient knowledge to enable them to proceed to practical, ‘on the job’, training.
The learner has completed a practical period of training on a selection of rides. The learner has completed the Mellors Group three-stage practical training (instructed, observed and unassisted) based on restraint category classification (regulatory standard) and hours per ride to develop the desired level of occupational competency.
The learner has completed a practical assessment comprising Instructed, observed, and unassisted formative assessment. The final assessment (workplace competence assessment) is then summative in nature, comprising observation of practical application, simulation, and questioning, before being declared competent. The learner was assessed by a qualified 6317 workplace competence assessor.
