The programme is aimed at responsible persons and deputies, duty holders, managers and staff engaged in the safe operation of water systems. It addresses Legionella risk in water systems in the context of: HASWA 1974, COSHH and ACOP (L8) and associated documents. Topics covered are: the nature of Legionella, water systems and risk assessment requirement, technical aspects of legionella risk management, and the importance of competency in minimising risk.

The individual has completed a virtual classroom or classroom course of learning. Topics covered were: the nature of Legionella and its effect on water systems; related UK legislation, guidance and ACOP (L8); Legionella risk assessment requirement; maintenance of water systems, and the responsibilities of duty holders and responsible persons

The individual has studied, in a classroom environment, the following legislation relating to their responsibilities and those of their employers: HSE Technical Guidance – Legionnaire’s disease (HSG 274) – Parts 1& 2 in depth, Part 3 in overview; COSHH; HASWA 1974; RIDDOR 2013; SI 1992/2225 - Legionnaire’s disease; Health Protection Regulations and Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. All studies were in the context of Legionnaire’s Disease risk management and control.
