Earning Criteria

• This learner has passed the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations. They have completed the following 8 mandatory units:-
• Unit 101 - This learner is able to 1. Comply with all workplace health, safety & welfare legislation requirement 2. Recognise hazards associated with the workplace that have not been previously controlled & report them in accordance with organisational procedures 3. Comply with organisational policies & procedures to contribute to health, safety and welfare 4. work responsibly to contribute to workplace health, safety & welfare 5. Comply with & support all organisational security procedures
• Unit 233 - This learner is able/knows how to when erecting masonry structures in the workplace 1. interpret the given information relating to work & resources 2. Comply with relevant legislation & official guidance 3. Maintain safe & healthy working practices 4. Select the required quantity and quality of resources 5. Minimise the risk of damage to the work & surroundings 6. Complete the work in the allocated time 7. Comply with the given contract information to the required specification.
• Unit 301 - This learner is able to 1. Assess available project data accurately to determine the occupational method of work 2. Obtain additional information from alternative sources in cases where the available project data is insufficient 3. Identify work methods that will make best use of resources & meet project, statutory & contractual requirements 4. Confirm& communicate the selected work method to relevant personnel.
• Unit 302 - This learner is able to 1. Identify work activities, assess required resources & plan the sequence of work 2. Obtain clarification & advice where the resources required are not available 3. Evaluate the work activities & the requirements of any significant external factors against the project requirements 4. Identify work activities which influence each other & make the best use of the resources available 5. Identify changed circumstances that require alterations to the work plan.
• Unit 312- This learner is able/know how to when erecting complex masonry structures in the workplace.
• Unit 335 - This learner is able/knows how to when setting out complex masonry structures
• Unit 501 - This learner is able to 1. Develop, maintain & encourage working relationships to promote good will & trust 2. Inform relevant people about work activities in an appropriate level of detail and level of urgency 3. Offer advice & help to relevant people about work activities & encourage questions/requests for clarification & comments 4. Clarify proposals with relevant people & discuss alternative suggestions 5. Resolve differences of opinion maintaining goodwill , trust & respect
• Unit 700 - This learner is able/knows how to when setting out to form masonry structures in the workplace 1. Interpret the given information relating to the work & resources 2. Comply with relevant legislation & official guidance 3. Maintain safe & healthy working practices 4. Select the required quantity & quality of resources 5. Minimise the risk of damage to the work & surroundings 6. Complete the work in the allocated time 7. Comply with the given contract information to the specification.
• This learner has completed one of the following optional units : Unit 232 Erecting masonry cladding; Unit 236 Erecting thin joint masonry structures ; Unit 299 Maintaining slate & tile roofing; Unit 672 Applying solid render to background surfaces & producing finishes; Unit 674 Producing internal solid plastering finishes; Unit 689 Repairing & Maintaining masonry structures ; Unit 834 Placing & finishing non-specialist concrete; or Unit 835 Installing drainage in the workplace
