If your job involves applying pesticides in a commercial role then you are legally required by the Plant Protection Products (Sustainable Use) Regulations (2012) to take this qualification. This qualification is designed specifically for anyone who currently supervises or manages a pesticide team or wishes to develop their career further. This is a new award. Earning Criteria

Unit 271 (Managing the Health, Safety and Welfare of Operators Applying Pesticides) - They are able to:

Know the legislative requirements and codes of practice relating to managing or supervising operators applying pesticides

Know organisational procedures for managing or supervising pesticide operations

Carry out a Risk Assessment for a specified operation

Interpret product information to ensure operator safety

Carry out a COSHH Assessment for a specified pesticide product

Complete post operation records

Unit 272 (Minimising the Environmental Impact of Pesticide Operations) - They are able to:

Know the sources and possible effects of pesticide pollution

Know how to minimise the impact of pesticides on the environment

Identify, assess and control risks to the environment

Know how to identify and effectively deal with an incident of environmental pollution

Unit 273 (The Selection, Storage and Effective use of Pesticides) - They are able to:
