The learners are able to style and finish hair. They know how health and safety policies and procedures affect styling and finishing services and understand the factors that influence styling and finishing services, the science of styling and finishing hair and the tools, equipment, products and techniques used to style and finish hair.

They are able to set and dress hair and know how health and safety policies and procedures affect setting and dressing services, the factors that influence setting and dressing services, understand the science of setting and dressing hair, the tools, equipment, products and techniques used to set and dress hair.

They are able to cut hair using basic techniques and know how health and safety policies and procedures affect cutting services. The learners understand the factors that influence cutting services, the tools, equipment, products and techniques used for cutting services.

They are able to colour and lighten hair and know how health and safety policies and procedures affect hair colouring and lightening services. The learners understand the factors that may influence colouring and lightening services, the science of colouring and lightening hair, the tools, equipment, products and techniques used for colouring and lightening services.

The learners understand the relevant policies and procedures when carrying out consultation services and the science of hair, skin and scalp. They are able to consult with and advise clients.
