Earning Criteria

• Unit 001 : Principles and values of health and social care (Adults). The learner understands how: 1. Legislation, national policies and codes of conduct and practice underpin health and social care and support for individuals; 2. Rights based approaches relate to health and social care; 3. How to use person centered approaches ; 4. To promote equality, diversity and inclusion; 5. Positive risk taking supports well-being, voice, choice and control;
• The learner understands: 6. How to develop positive relationships with individuals, their families and carers in the context of ‘professional boundaries’ ; 7. The importance of effective communication in health and social care; 8. The importance of Welsh language and culture for individuals and carers.  9. How positive approaches can be used to reduce restrictive practices in social care; 10. How change and transition impact upon individuals;
• Unit 003: Health and well-being (adults). 1. The learner knows what well-being means in context of health and social care; 2. The factors that impact on the health and well-being of individuals.  3. How to support individuals with their personal care and continence management. 4.  Knows what is meant by good practice in relation to pressure area care; 5. Knows how to support good oral health care and mouth care for individuals. 
• 6. The learner knows the importance of foot care and the health and well-being of individuals 7. Understands the roles and responsibilities related to the administration of medication in health and social care setting 8. Understand the importance of nutrition and hydration for the health and well-being of individuals  9.Knows how to support falls prevention. 10. Knows the factors that affect end of life care. 11.How assistive technology is used to support the health and well-being of individuals
• Unit 005: Professional practice as a health and social care worker. The learner understands: 1. the role, responsibilities and accountabilities of health and social care workers; 2. How to develop and maintain effective partnership working with others in health and social care; 3. How effective team working supports good practice in health and social care. 4. How to handle information. 5. Understands the importance of upholding the profession of health and social care workers
• Unit 006: Safeguarding individuals. The learner understands: 1. The purpose of legislation, national policies and codes of conduct and professional practice in relation to the safeguarding of individuals. 2. How to work in ways that safeguard individuals from harm, abuse and neglect. 3. The factors, situations and actions that could lead or contribute to harm, abuse or neglect. 4. Understands how to respond, record and report concerns, disclosures or allegations related to safeguarding.
• Unit 007: Health and safety in health and social care. The learner understands how health and safety legislation impacts on daily practice, their role and responsibilities and those of employers. They can cover the types of accidents, emergencies and hazards that may occur in a workplace/setting and how risk assessment is used to support health and safety. They understand responsibilities in relation to carrying out, recording and following risk assessments.
