• They are able to:

• Know effective methods of communication
• Understand drawings and specifications
• Know about working in engineering
• Know requirements for materials in engineering
• Know properties of engineering materials
• Know how to apply analytical methods to engineering mathematical applications
• Know how to apply analytical methods to engineering science applications
• Understand how to prepare for maintenance activities using safe and effective working practices
• Know how to select working methods, tools and equipment
• Know how to use dismantling/assembly techniques for components/systems
• They will also have gained skills in at least one of the following areas:  Assembling and maintaining fluid power systems; Maintenance of mechanical devices and equipment; Maintaining electrical wiring support systems; Maintaining electrical equipment and systems; They will also have gained skills in at least one of the following areas:  Machine components using milling techniques; Machine components using turning techniques;
• Using bench fitting techniques; Using Computer Aided Manufacturing processes ; Assembling and maintaining fluid power systems; Maintenance of mechanical devices and equipment; Maintaining electrical wiring support systems; Welding by Manual Metal Arc process; Welding by MIG process; Welding by TIG process; Welding by Oxy-Acetylene process; Fabricating sheet metalwork; Fabricating thick plate, bar and sections; Fabricating pipework assemblies;
• Fabricating steel work assemblies; Maintaining electrical equipment and systems Wiring and testing electrical circuits; Constructing, testing and fault finding electronic circuits; Pattern development for plate and sheet metalwork
