These are qualifications for work, study and life. This person can speak, listen and communicate through narratives, explanations, discussions, instructions, information, descriptions and presentations, all of varying length. They can identify relevant pieces of information from presentations and discussions, respond effectively to detailed questions, make requests, follow and understand discussions, express opinions and use appropriate phrases and register.
This person can understand the main points, ideas and details in texts, compare different texts, use reference materials, understand organisational and structural features in texts, infer meaning from images, recognise vocabulary associated with specific types and purposes of texts, and understand specialist words in context, using a range of straightforward texts on a range of topics and of varying lengths that instruct, describe, explain and persuade.
This person can compose straightforward texts such as narratives, instructions, explanations and reports of varying lengths. They can use punctuation correctly, use correct grammar, spell words used in work, study and daily life, communicate information, ideas and opinions clearly, coherently and accurately, write text to meet the needs of purpose and audience, use format, structure and language appropriate for audience and purpose, and write consistently and accurately in complex sentences,
