These qualifications These are qualifications to demonstrate the ability at an appropriate level to read, write, speak, listen and communicate in English, and to apply this knowledge and these skills in familiar situations. This person can identify and extract the main information and detail from short explanations; make requests and ask clear questions appropriately in different contexts; respond appropriately to straightforward questions; follow the gist of discussions; clearly express straightforward information and communicate feelings and opinions on a range of straightforward topics; make appropriate contributions to simple group discussions with others about a straightforward topic
This person can read straightforward texts that instruct, inform, describe and narrate. They can read correctly words designated for Entry Level 2; understand the main points in texts; understand organisational markers in short, straightforward texts; use effective strategies to find the meaning of words and check their spelling; read and understand sentences with more than one clause; use illustrations, images and captions to locate information
This person can compose short, straightforward texts - letters, e-mails, simple narratives. They can communicate info using words/phrases appropriate to audience/purpose; complete form asking for personal information; use basic punctuation correctly; form regular plurals; use first and second letters to put words in alphabetical order; spell Entry Level 2 words* correctly; write in compound sentences, use common conjunctions to connect clauses, adjectives and simple linking words appropriately.
