Through an open book assessment, the learner has confirmed their understanding of the principles of fire and the combustion process, the mechanism of smoke production and characteristics of smoke movement.

They have demonstrated their knowledge of the hazards presented by fire and smoke within the built environment, the characteristics of human behaviour in response to fire, the principles of fire safety, fire resistance and fire protection, the risk assessment process and the importance of sound fire safety management.
