This beginning writing (Writing Level 1) course is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in writing. Students learn the basic syntax of a sentence as well as subject/verb agreement. They develop well-structured sentences and begin to explore the development of paragraphs.

Earning Criteria

Students will be able to: 1. Correctly identify the important parts of a sentence; 2. Write a basic paragraph using correct subject-verb agreement; 3. Write an effective topic sentence for a paragraph; 4. Correctly structure a sentence using a subject, verb and object; and 5. Use basic transition words to organize a descriptive paragraph.
