Earning Criteria
-
Development of a Personal Learning Network of online resources. The following components of the PLN are expectations of someone working on obtaining a MS in Instructional Technology and will be demonstrated as directed. They include:
-
Ongoing participation in a discussion on one of the blogs the learner follows. Make a comment to a post that was interesting or informative about how technology can be used effectively in learning. That post is shared with the badge host via a link through email or by agreeing to share with the badge host through the learner's Diigo social bookmarking account.
-
Continued involvement of following educators on Twitter and tweeting information of one’s own about classroom project ideas, excitement over tech news and development, or questions that one may have around a tool or application.
-
Participation in a Twitter Chat around a particular area of interest to the learner as it relates to technology and/or pedagogy. Some of these are one time chats, but many are scheduled on a weekly or so basis.
-
Participation in an Edmodo group of interest to one working toward the MS in instructional technology.
-
Continued involvement in a Google+ community that supports individuals in their work of learning about the role technology plays in our teaching. Two communities are followed and the information is shared with the badge host who may chose to follow the communities as well. The learner makes a minimum of five postings in that group, or a collection of five postings from several groups the learner followed.
-
A one page reflection paper on the goals the learner may have for the PLN. It includes thoughts on its development and potential. It also answers the following question: How do you think the development or further refining of your PLN has had an impact on how you view yourself as a teacher and a learner?
