Earners of this credential demonstrated their commitment to providing Dementia Capable Care training and thereby demonstrate leadership in preparing a Dementia Capable Care workforce. Dementia Capable Care training prepares the workforce to be able to: Optimize the independence, safety, and quality of life of those at all stages of dementia; identify, prevent and de-escalate distress behaviors, non-pharmacologically; support loved ones; and incorporate person-centered care.

Standards
Location(s) within the Provider Organization must train at least 75% of their direct care staff and care managers in one or more of our Dementia Capable Care training programs. Preparatory Organization have a Dementia Capable Care Certified Instructor on staff and have routinely offered Dementia Capable Care training in their curriculum.
